In The Heat of The Night

A black Philadelphia police detective is mistakenly suspected of a local murder while passing through a racially hostile Mississippi town, and after being cleared is reluctantly asked by the police chief to investigate the case.

In The Heat of The Night is part of the first season of classic films being shown as part of ‘Classic & Cuppa‘, a new strand that has been guest curated by former Curzon CEO Susannah Shaw, who says:-

“This selection represents some of the greatest films from the most talented directors, cinematographers, and screenwriters… played out by a host of legendary actors. These are the films that shaped my life, I hope you love them as much as I do. In the Heat of the Night impressed me so as a teenager and fuelled my hope that racism would soon be a thing of the past. Oh dear! But just revel in these outstanding performances from Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger.”
